With Thanksgiving Day coming up this Monday it is time to take a look at all the senior-friendly Vancouver festivities that are taking place over the weekend. If you need assistance getting to any of these events, just grab one of our compassionate Vancouver caregivers at Home Care Assistance!
On Friday October 11, the Thunderbird Community Center on Cassiar Street is hosting a Thanksgiving Family Dinner and Movie night. Bring your family or just come to mingle with community members and enjoy a home cooked turkey dinner which will be served at 6 pm. Following dinner, guests are encouraged to stick around for board games and a family movie. Thunderbird is asking interested community members to sign up and pay online ($2 a person or $6 a family) as they have a limited number of seats available.
The 18th Annual Fort Langley Cranberry Festival will draw in families on Saturday October 12 from 10 am to 4 pm. It all starts with a delicious pancake breakfast on Church Street at 10:30 am followed by free entertainment, plenty of food and over 100 vendors! Everyone will also get 50% off admission to the Fort Langley National Historic Site where visitors can participate in a barrel making demonstration, sample some cranberry bannock, and give the cranberry toss a try.
On Monday, take the time to be with loved ones and either host a family dinner or travel to be with your relatives. If you decide on hosting the party, you should consider attending the Thanksgiving Harvest Centerpiece Class at Queensbury Flower Company from 6pm to 7:30pm on October 11. Be sure to take advantage of hourly care providers in Vancouver if you need help getting to the class or if you would like an extra hand setting up your home and cooking.
