October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

By , 8:17 pm on

As we head into the final days of September, we wanted to take the time to recognize October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. As one of the leading providers home health care in Vancouver, we encourage our senior clients, their families and the local community to show their support for all of the brave and inspirational individuals who are fighting the battle against breast cancer.

Today, the current 5 year survival rate of women diagnosed with breast cancer in Canada is 87%. Help add years to this statistic and participate in the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure. Mark your calendar for the 22nd annual event which will take place on Sunday, October 6, 2013 at the Concord Pacific Place. With a little more than a week to go, there’s still time for interested participants to sign up!

So far, the foundation has allocated an astounding $250 million toward breast cancer research, health promotion, advocacy, education and awareness programs since 1986. The dollars donated and raised from events such as the Run for the Cure are invested in the best and the brightest minds in breast cancer research; individuals who are leading groundbreaking programs across the breast cancer spectrum.

At Vancouver Home Care Assistance, we hope that you can find a way to participate in the Run for the Cure. Whether it’s showing your support by completing the 1K or 5K, donating your time and volunteering for the event or making a valued donation, your contributions help lead the way towards the creation of a future without breast cancer.
